drupal

I'm currently looking into ways to make my drupal installations quicker through automation. Everytime I create a drupal site, there are certain modules which I download and have to configure each time such as ckeditor, pathauto, views, ctools etc.

As part of my job I have to create websites for external bodies who we collaborate with. One that I'm working with in the near future need quite a few things different to normal quick websites that I've been asked to do for other clients. I'm really looking forward to this project which will probably be starting sometime in June. But first I need to do a lot of testing and trial and error.

I have always intended that this blog will include code snippets as and when I want to give them out or have found out something interesting to share with people. What I didn't want though is for the code to get lost in the middle of a post, so I've been looking around at the different ways to show this. I could of course, just created a lot of CSS styles and then attached them as an when I needed the different colours to show.

This is the second time I've written this post. Damn Firefox crashed on me last time. Note to self - Save drafts... To continue the story of my upgrade to drupal 7 now...
Well after a few teething problems it worked itself out in the end. There were some issued, like because I upgraded the database there were a few corrupt entries which screwed things up, but on the whole I'm pleased how it turned out. I also learned a few things when it comes to upgrading.

I decided that i would upgrade this blog tonight to Drupal 7. Wish I hadn't started it to be honest. What was supposed to be a relatively easy thing to do has taken me almost 4 hours and it's still not back on par with the old version. Why? Well, a few things which I expected and a few I didn't. Firstly on D7 you should get an administration bar across the top of your site when you are logged in. I get the bar, but no options!! Hello, how am I supposed to get to my administration pages? Secondly, the WYSIWYG editor which I use (CKEditor) doesn't seem to want to play nicely at the moment, even though it says it should work.
